The nurses and techs were all so patient and considerate towards me, this last Saturday morning when I was pretty freaked out to even be in an emergency room. I can't thank them all enough for the care they provided, they were all amazing, thank you!!!
Sent me a bill for my 35 year old son. Tried to call the hospital for an obvious clerical error and was rerouted automatically to the 800 outsourced billing service that was a twenty minute wait.
Birthing at Cortland: 5 years ago there were plenty of nurses on duty and we were well cared for. In May 2016, this hospital was understaffed when I went into labor. All is well, my baby is fine, but if there had been a complication she would not be. The nurse who was in the room pulled a cord out of the wall calling for help to no avail. She caught our daughter (her first solo delivery) and about 5mins later other staff came in. While nothing went wrong, that is only luck. The staff has always been kind, but the administration is simply not scheduling enough people.
Went in thinking I may have a blood clot in my leg, leg was swelling about double size, ultrasound tech spent 25 minutes searching and causing me horrible pain. He left the room and began talking about playing light sabers with his roommate. Emergency room doctor told me I had nothing wrong and pain must be from pulled muscle. Instructed me to go home and take Tylenol as well as ice my leg. Two days later foot and leg was turning black. Went to Upstate, ultrasound tech, within seconds, found an extremely large hematoma. Doctor was surprised Cortland found nothing. Some blood was extracted, doctor prescribed real pain meds. Pain and discomfort was relieved.
I am very in tune with the hospital at large and usually give honest and good reviews..However not so tonight. We made an appointment for my son to see cardiology for an update on a benign type preexisting condition. So after weeks of waiting we finally get in and he gets 20 mins....and a well lets confirm your insurance and get an EKG? Well a simple review of the insurance and one would find it to be hospital domestic plan for employees...in short COVERED! Second I have gone to my RMP doc and had them done in office in just minutes no problem!! So I feel number one my son was slighted due to being younger which irks me but if they think I will pay a second co-pay for a job that could have and should have been done that day?? NOPE..I have to weigh options now but this is principle, I have used that office but this is ridiculous. When he first had it tested say like 5-7 years back at a specialist in Elmira for younger patients we had that all inside an hour, scan, ekg etc it was fascinating, 1 trip!! Sorry Cortland but this was not up to par....I do not like paying for the same real estate twice. The ball was dropped here.
