The local Sheriff's Department based here is honesty completely unprofessional and never helpful. My family has called them for help several times, they always lie to us or threaten us, they never try and help us, and never even act like they care about the people they are suppose to protect. I love police but I wouldn't trust these people for one second, and if you should upset them the entire department will come down on you, even if its something stupid like arguing your side of the story. Any complaints you write will be covered up, ignored, and will paint a big red target on your back. I strongly urge you to request the new york state police if you need police help in local rural areas. I'm not saying these guys are bad people, a lot of them aren't, but the ones I've interacted with are awful.

Very unprofessional, rude and aggressive, I got pulled over for having tinted plate covers, and after the officer said that's why he pulled me over I responded with " I was unaware they were illegal as I bought them at a local automotive store yesterday" he said "well maybe I smell drugs" which first of sounds dirty as all hell, and proceeded to yell "give me the drugs" over and over had 2 other offices drive over including the k9 unit , officer Cody sandy told me he was going to tear my car apart and drag me out if I didn't give him permission to search my vehicle, I have video proof of me declining permission for them to search my car along with 2 witnesses , and he told me "he doesn't need permission" and " I can do what I want" he finally came off his high horse and said " if you get out and do a a sobeiety test and pass I'll send you on your way" I do Thais and pas with flying colors ( his words) then he refused to let me return to my car and makes me stand in a snow bank for over an hour while he illegally searched my car , the dog cheese a hole in my leather console and they find nothing in there ( cause there's nothing to find) and I get searched and questioned. He also told me I wasn't allowed to contact anyone, lawyer, family etc.. Point is I was treated unfairly and was seached, questioned illegally, I want this matter to be taken care of and the officers actions accounted for as well. An apology is all I seak. I'm a fairly easy person to get along with and I support the blue and always will but next time there will be a suit filed against the officer/ city...
